FAQ’s
Here you can find answers to frequently asked questions about photovoltaic systems.
This tax advantage for all photovoltaic systems on residential buildings up to 35 kWp was unfortunately suspended at the end of March 2025.

There are always various funding programs at state and federal level that support the installation of photovoltaic systems. Our team is happy to help you find and apply for suitable funding.
Depending on the size of the system, assembly takes 1-3 working days. If you have hired an electrician, we will involve him in the project.
There are a few factors that influence the price: The roof, components such as storage and failure protection, a wallbox and the scope of electrical installation work determine the price.
If you would like to know how much a system costs for you, ask now without obligation and free of charge. You will receive an offer with a fixed price.
This depends on the roof area and power consumption. The answer is the electricity bill. However, electricity demand tends to increase due to heat pumps, e-mobility, etc., which is why we recommend a system with expansion options.
Even with diffuse light, the PV system produces electricity. When setting up the system, the rule therefore applies: More is more. When the sky is cloudy, the modules facing north generate marginally less electricity than modules facing south.
The rule of thumb is that with good alignment and without shading, around 1,000 kWh per kWp are produced.
Yes, because most energy suppliers in Austria offer feed-in tariffs for excess PV electricity. Check with your supplier whether your current product includes a feed-in tariff. For example, there are “add-on” tariffs that add a feed-in tariff to your existing contract. There are also many other providers who buy your surplus electricity and offer attractive conditions. OeMag also offers a feed-in tariff at the market price.

Yes, because on request, we can design your system in such a way that this is possible. However, it should be noted that a standard PV system with storage is not capable of emergency power. At Voltaigo, systems for private households are always designed in such a way that power failure protection and a storage system can be retrofitted at any time.
The energy storage system makes it possible to use even more electricity from your own PV system yourself. A higher share of self-consumption protects against rising energy costs, as even less energy is purchased from the electricity supplier. They therefore consume the electricity they produce themselves during the day even at times when the PV system supplies little or no energy at all.
“The following requirements are met to install and properly commission a photovoltaic system:
- Feed-in counting point: We will request this for you from your network operator.
- State-of-the-art house distributors. Particularly in the case of very old distribution boxes, more extensive distributor modifications may be necessary. We would be happy to carry them out for you.
- Smart meter: If your network operator has not yet retrofitted it, this is necessary at the latest as part of a photovoltaic system. ”
voltaigo prepares the documents for the application to the network operator in accordance with its specifications and then submits them for you. If you have placed the order in partnership with your electrician, we will send the documents to your electrician for submission. The network operator will then process the application.
Some municipalities are demanding a building permit for PV systems. A simple e-mail is usually sufficient for this purpose. Contact your municipality to find out whether further steps are necessary. If you need any documents or information from us, just let us know.
ATTENTION for Vienna: In some cases, it is necessary in Vienna to submit an application in accordance with the Vienna Electricity Industry Act 2005 (WelWG). Currently, the approval process for PV systems in Vienna is free of charge.
Yes, all components of a photovoltaic system have longer warranty periods specified by the manufacturers. Modules: 10-year product warranty plus 25-year performance warranty, inverters: 5 — 15 years depending on manufacturer and type, substructure: up to 25 years.
To explain:
Blackout = extensive power failure over a long period of time; power failure = regionally limited, max. a few hours. There are now several ways to improve your independence and self-sufficiency, but the basic requirement for this is a power storage system. It is important to know your requirements (“What do I want to supply with electricity in the event of a power failure? “) and then to size the energy storage system and the system accordingly.
After installing your system, you should immediately inform your household insurance so that the PV system can be included in your existing contract. In view of increasing weather extremes, it is also advisable to take out insurance against hail, storms or fire/lightning.
Regular maintenance is necessary to achieve good returns in the long term. We recommend continuous visual checks, which you can carry out yourself. The system and modules themselves must be tested by qualified personnel every 3 years.

Shading could be caused by surrounding trees. Make sure to keep the vegetation near your modules as low as possible. Dirty modules often also lead to poor yields.
On request, we can set up the associated app for you to monitor your PV system free of charge. With the app, you have access to your current production and consumption data as well as historical production data at any time.
An energy management system (EMS) continuously monitors the power generation of the PV system and the current energy consumption in the household. It analyses the data in real time and, based on this, optimizes the distribution of solar power. As a result of the optimization, consumers are switched on at an adjusted time in the event of a surplus
